Dental Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium block is a high-quality metal alloy specifically designed for dental prosthetic and implant applications, offering an optimal combination of strength, biocompatibility, and machinability.
The term “ELI” (Extra-Low Interstitial) indicates that elements such as oxygen, nitrogen, and iron are present at extremely low levels in the alloy. This purification process results in a material that is more ductile and less brittle, significantly reducing the risk of fracture—especially in narrow implants or thin prosthetic components.
Key Advantages and Application Areas
High Mechanical Strength:
It offers approximately twice the strength of commercially pure titanium, enabling long-term resistance to chewing forces, particularly in posterior (molar) regions.
Superior Biocompatibility and Osseointegration:
In contact with body fluids, it rapidly forms a protective titanium dioxide layer. This layer provides excellent corrosion resistance and allows bone cells (osteoblasts) to adhere to the implant surface, enabling a strong bond known as osseointegration. The ELI refinement further enhances this biological response.
CAD/CAM Machinability:
It is commonly supplied in 98 mm diameter discs or blocks. This standardized form allows precise processing with CAD/CAM milling machines in dental laboratories, enabling the production of custom restorations such as crowns, bridge frameworks, abutments, and even implant superstructures.
